The Fabric Store Head Office | Warehouse Assistant

We are seeking a motivated, reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our fabric warehouse team at our Auckland HQ. Currently at 32-hours per week, with the potential to become 40 hours, it is ideal for a Fashion graduate or someone with prior experience in working with textiles. As a warehouse assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse activities, which involve the daily lifting and moving of full-sized fabric rolls. 

Your responsibilities will include unloading fabric shipments, breaking down fabric rolls, and packing and dispatching shipments to our retail stores on a weekly basis. This is a hands-on and physical role that requires excellent time management skills and a keen eye for detail in the administrative aspects of the role. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a creative and inspiring environment, contributing to our mission of providing exceptional fabrics and services to our customers.

Key Qualifications and Requirements:

Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy fabric rolls
Reliable and motivated with a positive work ethic
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Passion for fashion and textiles
Fashion graduate or relevant experience in textiles preferred
Valid driver's license (restricted or full) is an advantage

The Fabric Store is a boutique fabric retailer, which specializes in contemporary designer dress fabrics and textiles, with a strong focus on natural fibres. Our brand began in New Zealand, and now has stores throughout New Zealand and Australia, as well as an international online store. Fabrics are sourced from both local and international designers and include silks, linens, wool suiting & coatings, satins, cottons and specialty pieces such as merino jersey, leather hides and Liberty of London prints. New Zealand Stores — Expressions of Interest

We’re constantly on the lookout for retail talent! What we look for: For all of our retail store roles, we look to hire fabric-loving individuals and the ideal candidates will be those able to deliver exceptional customer service. You’ll also have a genuine love for fabric, as well as garment construction knowledge. In our retail positions, you will need to be pro-active in achieving sales targets and be passionate about providing a high level of customer service at all times. Previous retail experience is an advantage, however the ability to work in a team, passion for our product, and the right knowledge/skillset are the most important factors for us when hiring for our retail stores. The successful candidate will have an innate love for beautiful fabrics and will be excited to work in a creative and inspiring environment.
